Child Custody: Minnesota law deals with legal and physical custody. Legal custody deals which parent makes the decision where a child goes to school, church or religious training and where the child goes for healthcare services. Physical custody deals with a child’s primary residence and routine daily activities. Contact AUSUM LAWFIRM if you want to ask a Family Court to grant you legal and/or physical custody of your child. Before a Judge can hear your child custody matter in Minnesota, the child must have lived in Minnesota for 180 consecutive days with a parent or anyone acting as a parent of the child.
Parenting Time: Upon request from either parent, the Court or Judge will grant such parenting time on behalf of the child and a parent as will enable the child and the parent to maintain a child to parent relationship that will be in the best interests of the child. There are a dozen or so relevant factors that a Court must consider in evaluating the best interests of the child for purposes of determining issues of custody and parenting time. Do not sit on your right as a parent and let the other parent deprive you of having parenting time with your child. Contact AUSUM LAWFIRM if you want to enjoy parenting time with your child.
